Metropolitan Contracting Company is not your typical commercial general contractor. Because we have tried to make Metropolitan a great place to work, we have a highly tenured staff. Metropolitan owns its office building and provides its employees with an attractive, comfortable working environment. Our business is split between ground-up construction and interior finish-out. Quality workmanship and service keeps our customers coming back. Metropolitan’s own staff is capable of performing demolition, light concrete work, steel stud framing, drywall construction, ceiling installation and general carpentry. Weekly meetings of senior staff and monthly general staff meetings help foster an environment of open communication.

Positions that are sometimes available:

Retail Interior Finish-Out Superintendents: Must have proven credentials for interior finish-out jobs ranging up to $750,000, preferably including national mall retailers. The position is based in San Antonio, but a willingness to sometimes travel will be a plus.

Ground-Up Superintendents: A wide variety of private-sector commercial construction experience is desired, including office buildings, warehouse projects, medical facilities and retail centers. Typical projects will range from $1,000,000 to $30,000,000. The position is based in San Antonio, but a willingness to sometimes travel will be a plus.

Project Engineers: On-site positions responsible for assisting the Superintendent with submittals, lay-out, personnel management, scheduling and general project documentation.

Project and Assistant Project Managers: Office-based positions responsible for managing a portfolio of work. Strong communication and presentation skills, proficient technological abilities and proven experience is a must. Construction-related degrees are highly desirable.

Project Administrators: Office-based positions responsible for providing clerical support for Project Managers. Duties include managing much of a project’s paper flow, follow-up with vendors and subcontractors, and preparing meeting minutes. Organizational and computer skills are essential.

Construction Accountants: Office-based positions responsible for the full range of typical construction accounting duties. Commercial job cost experience is essential, and knowledge of ViewPoint Software is desirable.

Interns: We sometimes have positions available on a part-time basis for construction program students.
